History
DestaOne started writing graffiti in 1983. After a school excersion to
Sydney City
in 1982, he noticed big political slogans written with paint rollers on the trackside walls from the train. He wondered why and who did them? He was more inspired after seeing the 1979 movie "The Warriors". The New York city trains were covered in colors and words which facinated him. He always liked the secrecy of the night as a child so it appealed to him. The fact that unknown people left their mark to show that they were there was exciting and mysterious.In 1984 movies Beat Street and Breakin were released which displayed this new phenomanom we know now as "Hip Hop". The break dancing, the music and the graffiti had him hooked, so with the graffiti he took to the next level from meaningless scrawls to
creating letters
and style. Crews he has represented include TCB( The City's Best. His own he formed in 1986) DBT (Dia Bolik Terror), NSO (No Sell Out), WB (Waverton Brothers) TCF (The Chosen Few) and currently DCA (Deluxe Custom Aerosol).He is self taught and over the years with the help of certain influences he has developed his style and techniques which has brought him to where he is today.
Influences
Influences that have played a part in the development of his art start with SEEN & "DONDI", old school writers of New York City. Their stuff was amazing and ahead of the times. Another main influence was '"UNIQUE". They met and became good friends. Unique showed him style and colors and was a big improvement and made all the difference. If it wasn't for Unique he would not be doing the art he is today.
Another is MYSTERY ( MR E ) & CAN TWO. Mystery has been a big inspiration as far as his characters go. " Mr E has been one of the best in the world for over 20 years, He always loved his work, so yes he has had a big impact on him. Can Two. "what more can you say? He's characters are amazing. A true king of graffiti".
Other influences include personal friends. CAIB is a great artist. His style is so different and he burns. DAYS is another. A friend of many years he has been a good motivator to paint productions and big walls. He has great techniques and skills.
PHAL is a mover. He pushes you to go out when you don't want to and they have had some crazy painting sessions.
